Economic deflashing of small electrical components, computer components etc. has so far posed an unsolvable problem. On the one hand, the size of the deflashing media particles must not exceed 400µm because of the fine structure of these parts, whilst on the other hand it must not fall below 200µm because of possible dust formation. Apart from this, the kinetic energy would drop to practically zero.

 

Hitherto known blasting media within this dimensional range consist of ground material such as walnut shells, thermosetting plastics etc. They are unsuitable, because they fracture too quickly, producing an excessive amount of dust and, in addition, the grit fragments are too aggressive and irregular in dimension.

 

Emsodur Micro is the only known deflashing media of this type with the required stability of dimension and shape. Emsodur Micro has a long operational life span and, what’s more, owing to it’s elasticity it does not harm the sensitive surfaces of the parts to be treated. Dust formation is considerably reduced.
