One of EMSODUR’s specialities is the development of customised Emsodur grades. Our research and development experts provide specialised know-how and innovative ideas to satisfy customer-specific requirements. An example of this is the development of Emsodur MICRO, a product with fine granules, which is particularly valued for deflashing of die-cast and electrical components.

Many blasting agents exhibit surface stress cracking and disintegration after prolonged use. Emsodur rounds off corners, but does not break. This means that the required number of particles remains constant for longer than with other well-known blasting agents. In addition, the extremely low abrasion causes very little dust to be created.
Emsodur granules are cubically shaped and, therefore, have more mass and more kinetic energy compared to square or cylindrical blasting agents. A better deflashing performance can be achieved, particularly with small granules. The surfaces of the parts being treated are never damaged as Emsodur retains its ideal property profile even at the smallest granule size.
Modern blasting processes run continuously and are integrated directly into the manufacturing process. A continually high quality of deflashing requires all parameters to remain as constant as possible. This cannot be achieved if the blasting agent contains different chemical formulations or if it has an unstructured granule shape. Emsodur is manufactured continuously from high-quality raw materials and is subject to regular quality assurance tests, thus guaranteeing constant blasting results.
Many mass-produced components made of thermoset materials have numerous corners, edges, slots and holes so that the maximum grain size of the blasting agent used is limited. The cubic shape of Emsodur N is particularly effective at low grain sizes as it provides 27% more mass – decisive for the deflashing performance. A further benefit provided by Emsodur N is its availability in a red colour which is an advantage when it is used with extremely small parts.
