Different Plastic Blast Media can be used for the cleaning and paint stripping of different parts from the plastics industry or aviation. The blasting media differ in hardness and aggressiveness during the blasting process. In addition, different sizes are offered, which can also influence the aggressiveness:

Emsodur Urea – Type II Plastic Blast Media

Barcol hardness 54-62 (3.5 MOH), medium hardness
Very versatile blasting media suitable for various cleaning and paint stripping applications such as aircraft, vehicles, trucks, trailers and boats. Excellent results in stripping paint and composites, graffiti, and cleaning of injection moulds and circuit boards.

Emsodur Melamine – Typ III Plastic Blast Media

Barcol hardness 64-72 (4.0 MOH), Hard
Our most aggressive blasting media is suitable for various cleaning, paint stripping and flash removal applications and is a great replacement for glass beads and other harsh blasting media. Excellent results are achieved when stripping stubborn paint and other contaminants from hard surfaces such as carbon in engines, cleaning injection moulds and cleaning steel and iron surfaces.

Emsodur Acryl – Typ V Plastic Blast Media

Barcol hardness 46-54 (3.2 – 3.5 MOH), soft
Ideally suited for various applications on sensitive surfaces. Excellent for aircraft parts and removal of powder coatings on aluminum, thin fiberglass, and thin delicate metal sheets.

Cleaning and paint stripping

Plastic Blast Media can be used to clean a wide variety of parts. In most cases plastic tools or extrusion screws are cleaned with Plastic Blast Media.

Another application of plastic blast media is the paint stripping of aircraft parts or components. Here is an example of an application for the paint stripping of rims, brakes and a landing gear of an aircraft with the DRY STRIP brand, which also belongs to Emsodur.
